Nature At Your Feet
A trail that stretches for miles.
Imagine being able to have easy access to a nature trail that stretches for miles along the picturesque San Joaquin River. Named after Bennie and Joyce Gatto, this trail extends for miles. When it is completely built out, the trail will be paved for 18 miles. Today, part of the trail is paved for 5.25 miles with smooth asphalt, making it easy for walking, running, or strolling with the kids. There is fitness equipment along the way, so you can go from a peaceful leisurely walk one day and have a full outdoor workout the next. Beyond the pavement, the trail connects to dirt paths for a more varied and immersive nature experience.

Bennie & Joyce Gatto
More than 70 years of service to the community.
When you are out enjoying the beautiful river trail, take a moment to think about the remarkable couple for whom the trail is named: Bennie and Joyce Gatto.
Since the 1950s, the Gatto family dedicated their lives to the service of the community of Lathrop. The trail is named in their honor as a “thank you” to two people whose own families were born in Lathrop. Bennie and Joyce have been an inspiration for generations of people in Lathrop for their devotion and dedication to the arts and culture, city government, athletic boosters, and the spirit of local volunteerism that makes Lathrop a wonderful place to live.
